Q:     What is your new book about?

A:     It’s a true story about choices, survival and freedom, but most of all it's a story about Hope and a future. Because of Hope, life can be better than it ever has! This book is my testimony of how God’s mercy and grace allowed me to survive deaths sting and come out on top! And if I can come out of the captivity to bondage, then anyone can!

Q:     What do you want to accomplish with this book?

A:      It is my sincere desire to never witness another innocent young precious soul stepping out of their front door into the direct path of a speeding destructive tracker trailer truck of this deceitful world. And this precious soul’s little body getting slammed by the trucks grill, as she remains fused to it for a lifetime afraid to let go of its familiarity. The fear and lies of this tragic world, she just became infused in, is forcing her to focus on the destructive uproar zooming passed her as she holds on for dear life for 26 long miserable stolen years.

This book is packed full of the tools, for these precious lives, that exposes in great detail the tricks and maneuvers of an enemy that attempts to steal, kill and destroy these precious lives. Through my dangerous and often wrong choices, I share many intimate moments that flipped my life upside down and bound me into an addicted and abuse filled lifestyle for decades. For those who are trapped in this same lifestyle, this book proves that there’s a way out!

Q:      How did you come up with the title, "I Left HIM But He Never Left Me"?

A:      It was divinely given to me. A pastor in early 2009 told me God had dropped it into her heart that I’m to begin a writing career. I’m to write an article and have it published. This article, Give No Place To The Enemy, was published April 15, 2009 in the Calvert County Recorder Newspaper. It describes the battle and warfare I personally waged against the horrifying life threatening disease of uterine cancer attempting to destroy my life. This article, in turn, lead to the development of our website GOD’S Healing Zone. Once this website was established and became internationally recognize, I then began the writing of the book as divinely instructed.

Q:     Being the first book you’ve ever written, was it difficult?

A:     Well, to be honest with you I’ve probably only read about four books from front to back my entire life. I even flunked English class several years in a row only to make them up in summer school. I thank God often for Spell-Check! I, by all means, would not be my first choice to give this book assignment to. But God saw something in me that I didn’t. So He chose me. He knew I was willing to obey Him even without me knowing where, what or how to do it.

In my minds eye, looking at myself from His perspective, I saw nothing more than an itsy bitsy speck of nothingness galaxies below Him. But He still zeroed in on me and lovingly chose me to do His Will, which was to write this book. So of course He helped me write it. There’s NO WAY in this world I could have or would have written it without Him. He took me step by step through the writing process and sent the publisher to me also.

Q:   Wasn’t it difficult bringing back to mind such awful memories of your past?

A:    Thankfully The Lord put, what I call, an on and off switch in me. When I sat down to the keyboard for that day He’d flip on the switch in me which allowed these painful emotions to flood back into my mind as I wrote. Then when supper time came He switched the switch to off. And I basically was free from that emotion until I started the next day. Hallelujah, I have been freed from the terrible pain of my past because of Him.

Q:    How does it make you feel exposing such intimate details of your life in the book?

A:    Well, it’s like my husband Bruce says, “Marilyn you have what I call Street-Cred!” He means Street Credibility. By uncovering such personal details to the reader, those who may be experiencing these same problems or even dangers will know without a doubt, I understand just what they’re going through. It’s my desire and hope that my experiences will, in some way, help these people out of the bondage they maybe captive to. I’m not ashamed of anything I’ve written in this book, and I will not cast a stone at anyone for their past either!

Q:    What has this book taught you?

A:     Writing this book has taught me that every one of us are special to God. He has given each one of us a plan, a purpose and a magnificent future. We simply need to seek Him so we can experience everything He has planned for us. Thankfully, I am Blessed beyond measure by Almighty God to be alive, and able to stand up and share this same hope and future with others who are desperately stuck in captivity to bondage of all kinds as I was.

I’ve also realized by the writing of this book that He REALLY never did leave or forsake me like He promised He wouldn’t. I was His from the beginning when I wanted Him! But I was still His even when I didn’t want Him or gave Him the time of day. He still wanted me, a nobody! A self-centered carnal lost and lonely nobody!

Q:     What kind of feedback have you been getting about the book?

A:      The very first thing practically everyone who’s read the book has said is the same thing, “You can’t put the book down!” And the second most common statement said is, “Wow Marilyn, you sure have lived a wild and extremely outrageous shocking life to say the least!

At this point many readers have shared with me intimate moments in their lives that are very similar to one or two of the chapters in the book. During this very special time I’ve been blessed to be able to listen to their stories, and this usually results in a deeply emotional release from pain and freedom from guilt they’ve been unknowingly storing up for years.

Q:     What would you do if you weren’t writing?

A:      This question brings to mind an old Gospel Bluegrass tune titled, In The Highways and the Hedges I’ll be somewhere working for my Lord! There’s the answer.

Q:     What’s the most exciting thing that has happened to you since you’ve became a published author?

A:      First off, daily I am amazed that I was even chosen to write a book. I get so excited about the adventures I know God has planned for Bruce and me. My~O~ my, if God can write a book through me and line up the publisher all in the same month, and the only thing I have to do is sit and type! How much more can He do with me?! The possibilities are limitless! My life already seems like a dream come true.
